Rather unfair to leave a one star review after only watching 25 minutes, but I didn't sense the wooden and exposition-heavy script was due to change. Successful in conjuring an odd atmosphere, but more from the actors' sense of puzzlement and less from any cinematic tension, with ponderous pauses between every interaction.
At one point, we get an embarressing Cujo jump-scare, when a missing dog appears, at head height, without warning, in a large empty room.
We also get, within a story that needs us to be fearful of experimental agricultural tech, a deeply improbable and lazy approach to the setting - pet dogs (look out!) wondering around inside labs, a head scientist so renowned and committed to her work that she brings an experiment home for her son to try out, etc.
