Genie Lewis

Maybe I shouldn't have read this author's newest book, The Perfect Couple, first, because I absolutely loved it. It was the first book of hers that I read. This book falls far short of that one. The two main characters' relationship issues were exhausting - on again/off again continuously. At the end I didn't really care who ended up with who.

I used to love this author's books, but couldn't finish this one. It reminded me of a book intended for teen readers - simplistic and trite.

While I enjoyed this book, I feel as if the author borrowed quite a bit from her mother's style and content for this book. The constant references to the excellence of the south as compared to the rest of the country were somewhat distracting for me, as were the constant y'all's. While I realize people in the south speak in this manner, in one sentence alone there were four y'all's.
