My new favorite show
I, honestly, wasn't expecting this to be as great as it was. The LOTR trilogy set a high bar for this series. Long run times are definitely a risk, but I think this series was well done.
It started off slow, but interesting, showing a new perspective on the events before the trilogy. I think each episode got better and better though, increasing pace.
Even for having long run times, the pacing kept it intriguing. The ending wasn't something I was expecting, and the series used a good framing device to set the stakes even higher in the finale.
Definitely a must-watch for Tolkien fans.
