For a company sponsoring a film trashing capitalism and patriarchy they might want to rethink what they’re selling from the movie on their website Right Now. Six plus “stereotypical Barbie’s” and a meager one or two “ordinary” looking Barbie’s - according to the movie that is. I’d say they like capitalism & stereotypes just fine - this first being fine imo, the second not so much and not so cool to be hypocrites. Also can we all appreciate how anyone roller skating on Venice beach these days are wearing outfits that look like the 80’s outfits they wear in the movie and no one would even be surprised at all anymore? Also how according to the movie, Barbie wants to go back to a patriarchy filled world for no apparent reason, as she did nothing there - or in her world for that matter - to make it better but for some reason she still must go back. Or how this movie also basically disregards and disrespects everything that all the incredibly strong and powerful women have done in the “real” world to make it more amazing and fair and beautiful for all of us females who actually live in it and love it. Because this movie is super behind the times what my 11 year old Latina niece growing up in the states said was correct - “ this movie was weird, because they make the real world look terrible & it’s really not.” Maybe because women have rights now, capitalism is a great thing and you can wear 80’s jump suits and roller blade down Venice beach peacefully as it actually is the norm.
