Unaad is a heartfelt coming-of-age film that truly resonates with todayโs teens. Itโs refreshing to see the Marathi film industry expanding into such emotionally rich and relatable storytelling. The film beautifully captures that confusing phase in life an age where you feel directionless, unwilling to work or do anything because you havenโt yet found your purpose.
Through the journey of three friends, Unaad takes you on an emotional ride of self-discovery, where each character strives to prove themselves individually, yet together. Ashutosh Gaikwad, youโve nailed it. The film earns a solid 3 out of 5 stars it couldโve easily been a 4 if it were presented with slightly more finesse.
While films like Wake Up Sid, Tamasha, and Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani are often celebrated for their coming-of-age narratives, Unaad sets itself apart with its rural backdrop and raw cinematography. The scenic beauty of Konkan has been captured with incredible depth and simplicity, adding to the filmโs authenticity.
At its core, Unaad is about teens, their complex relationships with parents, and the often overlooked misunderstandings between friends both male and female.
This is a film worth watching, especially if you go in with no expectations. It just might surprise you.
