It was no where near as good as the first movie, but it wasnโt bad.
I do genuinely like the backstory we got on the sisters and how they became witches in the first place, and Iโm not gonna lie the town freaking out over one spider was funny, I would have done the same.
Beccaโs plot of being a witch and forming the new Salem coven I wasnโt a fan of. It just felt too cliche to not just make it a good witch vs bad witches movie, but to make the pagan girl who believes in the power of crystals and magic he goddess to be the new witch. If they wanted to make a new witch I think it would have been more interesting if it was one of her friends who was the witch instead of her.
The high school petty drama was boring, but I did find it funny how the boyfriend was actually just a dumbass who didnโt realize he was being a jerk. I had fully expected him to just be a toxic BF she would dump because โmen see evil, go girl powerโ. Glad it didnโt go that way. The mayor was kinda cringe, though, sometimes he was funny, but usually he was cringe.
Always happy to see Billy. Not too happy how far they went to humanize Book.
I have mixed feelings about how it ended. I love how in the quest for ultimate power, Winnifred lost the two she loved most in the world, but at the same time it feels like a cop out almost.
Over all itโs an okay movie, it will never be at the same level as the first, but nothing can compare to that masterpiece.
