A few expected jump scares( most without any tension, effort or suspense), a movie with not enough back story in relation to the characters, dumb characters you hope for to get eaten and temporary emotional acting. For example, there’s crying one minute then back to normal 2 mins later. I was scared when Fitzie filmed the monster in the chamber in stealth mode but everything else was just silly. Watch it once, maybe twice but not anymore times. How can I feel for any character when they make dumb decisions and aren’t that likable? They don’t even truly feel for each other to be honest. It’s not a terrible movie but it could’ve been much more. The ending is just balls! I rather have someone survive that the crowd could actual favor but that’s hard to find here, the monster dead or buried and an interview based on the experience. Found footage films can make for great ideas but it’s getting a bad rep here. Also how does a boulder land on a lads legs when he’s standing upright? Why do the rats attack the main monster? How had the soldier enough ladder to get down into the chamber? So many questions without answers which is why most people won’t find this movie worth another watch. Even if you don’t mind jump scares and wanna see people get chased around and killed 1 by 1, I’ve no idea how you can walk from this thinking it was not a bad film. There’s also a typical plot which involves risking life and limb for the sake of making a find of the century. I’m sure As Above So Beliw was the same.
