This is going to be a cult movie, generating lots of memes and discussions. Most people will either love or hate it, because the director intentionally wanted it to be polarizing and trigger the wokes and feminists. Objectively, it’s an average movie with some amazing scenes that are very entertaining and great acting by the leads. With better editing and dialogues in some scenes, it could have been a much better movie. Ranbir Kapoor is amazing as expected in this movie but the surprise package of this movie is Rashmika Mandanna. She holds her own against a very accomplished actor and totally kills it in one of the scenes towards the end. A lot of people will complain about toxic masculinity and misogyny and gratuitous violence but why did they watch a movie called Animal? The pace of the movie is somewhat uneven at times and some scenes and dialogues do not add any value, either in terms of entertainment or in terms of moving the story forward. The action scenes are very entertaining and well choreographed and shot. It’s an interesting choice to have the marquee action sequence in the middle of the movie, kind of like The Dark Knight. The story itself is inspired by The Godfather, with Ranbir’s character being a combination of some of Michael’s intelligence and most of Sonny’s anger and impulsiveness on steroids. The music and Soundtrack are really good and Sandeep Reddy Vanga clearly has a very good taste in music. My current favorite is Pehle Bhi Main. Overall, I would recommend it to all non judgmental people who watch cinema to be entertained and experience emotions that are different from their day to day lives. I would have preferred 3.5 stars but I could only choose 3 or 4.
