Album of the year for me, 9/10. Taking influence from lots of different sub-genres of hiphop, in THA PLAYA$ MANUAL we can hear elements of G-funk, late 90s Memphis hiphop, traditional Houston hiphop, and even vocals not unlike Tame Impala. The album is a big switch up from a lot of Ramirez's previous heavier work, but for fans of his older work this album is not completely devoid of that sound, with the second half of the album giving into his traditional heavy and gritty sound.
