MY TAKE ON : CHHAVA
WHAT WERE THE HIGHLIGHTS?
- To watch Vicky Kaushal in each frame of this film was like witnessing Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj come to life...Magnanimous demeanor & outstanding performance!! ๐ฏโจ๏ธ
- Akshaye Khanna, practically unrecognizable under all that heavy prosthetics managed to create some very powerful, eerie moments on the screen. A remarkable portrayal of Aurangzeb.๐๐ผ
- The action was well-choreographed & the cinematography was stunning, making every scene epic and immersive.
WHAT WERE SOME OF THE MISSES?
- Priyanka Chopra in Bajirao, Kajol in Tanaji, Kriti in Panipat were more believable in their avatars as warrior queens. On the contrary, Rashmika Mandanna as Yesubai with her silly doe-like expressions, passable accent & zero chemistry -- was very painful to watch. A huge waste of screen time!
- Rahman's background score gave me Troy-like flashbacks. It failed at many points to enhance the overall mood of certain scenes. The duo Ajay-Atul would have been a wiser choice to lean on by the makers.
- Let us call spade a spade. The film's narrative was uneven and somehow lacked coherence.
WHY SHOULD ANYONE WATCH - 'CHHAVA'?
- It is a true testament to Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj's bravery, conviction and sacrifice -- which in retrospect, I believe, is massively missing in our history textbooks.
- In this age of Kalyug, what we are truly missing are leaders like Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, who were brave, loyal, decisive and unyielding.
- This tale of 'Chhava' is a somber reminder that true leadership is not about personal gain or power, but about serving others, standing up for what is right, and inspiring others to do the same!
- โโโโโ to the filmmakers not only for their craft but largely for the tribute they have given to a worthy leader๐
