If you haven't read the books you start with an advantage, if you have read the books then beware as the new series takes Rebus bang up to date, takes multiple previous characters and feeds them pell mell into a brand new story line, a bit like finding your traditional shepherd's pie reconstructed by Heston Blumenthal into a weird dessert. I finished viewing last night and as someone who has read the books I was disappointed, mainly because the dark slowness of the books has been discarded for pace and action, complex characters are now transparent and Edinburgh as a character, comes over as just too nice. Just disappointed really - high expectations not met ☹️ . . .

The worst film I have ever had the non-privilege to see - absolutely appalling 🙈

First series was good but too long and then it became interminable - a twin brother? Really? How plausible do the writers think we are? Too long, and a merciful relief when it ended or just petered out after what, 200 episodes - awful . . .

Far too long - one season would have been enough - good viewing for 10 episodes but too much of a marathon - 3 seasons? Really? Deadly dull . . . and enough with killing off a character only to find that he has a twin brother - lazy, lazy writing.
