Excellent story-telling, beauifully acted, with stunning cinematography. I was particularly drawn to the story of Monica, the mother. She has deep love for her family and yet little agency in the decision making for herself or her children. She loves her husband but makes sure their children's needs are never forgotten. Although she is not living where she would like, mostly to be closer to medical help for her son, she makes their house a home. She works to bring in income, makes sure their children are cared for, and tends to her mother. She alternativey fights with and supports Jacob. Yeri Han does an excellent job of showing Monica as a loving, frustrated, intuitive, caring, woman in her role as wife, mother, and daughter all the while adjusting to life as an immigrant in her new home.
