Lord of the rings has become a genre it feels and you can forgive the film makers for stretching the narrative to get bums on seats etc. I was really looking forward to this latest version. All the elements are the for a an adventurous and bold journey through the realms of the saga. Admittedly I've only watched 3 episodes so forgive me for maybe posting a premature review. Ep 1 & 2 were very reasonable. A cautious but nonetheless confident start. Episode 3, the whole thing crashed. It's as if I sat through over an hour of a third rate cheesy 90s fantasy drama like Hercules. I'd lost track what the story was, the absurd Numenor set up, and everything wrapped in a hammy studio environment which made me wonder where was the money spent. I don't even know what the plot is. Sorry. But I've abandoned it. You will too

Terrible acting. Alex Kingston erodes credibility with each passing episode, she is the worst. Storyline is just about believable but frankly you know it's padded out. Needs a maximum of 3 x 1hr episodes (without Alex Kingston).
