Space horror is very underrated and I don't get why. A constant risk of near instant and painful death via suffocation and intense heat is a terrifying concept that isn't capitalized upon enough. That is where The Orbital Children succeeds. 6 people are trapped in a unfinished space hotel that gets cut off from all outdoor communications and at risk of being exposed to the vacuum. I wouldn't exactly say it's horror however it has elements of horror. It's quite good but I have one issue with it. Meena: The absolute worst character. Her big thing is she's a big online idol and she never shuts up about it. She risks her live just in the hopes of getting more followers and knows nothing about space. That's her one trait and her catchphrase never gets less annoying. She's every single gen Z stereotype wrapped up in one character. Another issue that's less egregious which is the lack of nuance. Characters have to stop the story in it's track to explain the pseudoscience and it never stops. They repeat the fact that comet water is harvested from comets like 5 different times. The characters briefly become lifeless vessels to spout of space words about 3 times per episodes. Those complaints aside it's a great show that stops just short of excellence. Give it a quick watch when you can.
