I thought it was decent. SPOILERS
To start off, I haven't read the books so can't compare the two. I like the actors, but thought their dialogue could've been a lot better. Also..... why was everyone acting so casually to the universe blinking and the particle accelerators going whack? If that happened IRL, the world would've thrown into chaos WAY sooner.
There were also times when the physics was shallow at best, situations of huge importance were skipped entirely, and the implications skipped.
And then the aliens. I was confused and only got more confused. They are watching us supposedly 24/7 for months and yet they can't figure out what fairy tales are?!? Their video games were fanfiction of their history and yet they can't comprehend fictional novels? Yeah..... no, that doesn't track.
That and why they had to travel so slow. If your technology is advanced enough to interact with the higher dimensions, then you should be able to travel well above 1% of light speed.
Don't even get me started on how their civilisation was able to advance that far to begin with unless they're insanely durable compared to humans and didn't die like they did in the simulations.
All of this said, it was still enjoyable and I'm looking forward to season 2.
