By diminishing the effectiveness of a border wall in stopping all illegal immigration, he made the argument that nothing should be done. You should have argued that cutting illegal immigration by 33% is a significant reduction that would be cost effective. Could we end all illegal immigration by adding $10 billion more to airport and port security? Look at it on a cost-effective basis, and you wind up with a far more effective argument.
