Our son is a "sparkle boy" that is bullied at school. We were recommended this book but my son immediately didn't want to read once we got to the library part. This book totally missed the opportunity to educate, simply allowing kids at the library to say "boys can't because..." It's a story about getting siblings to accept gender non-conforming choices but sadly lacks a message about navigating the wider community. It would have been great if a parent had stood up for their child being bullied in the library instead of just leaving to go home.
