I'm not sure what I was expecting...the book felt a dated chaste Mills&Boons type novel. If it was a modern book I would have felt that I'd ill used 5 hours of my life but I did find it interesting to learn how cosmopolitan the aristocratic where and to gain some insight into their practices&stereotypes. I also enjoyed the fact that it was a Bronte book and see the progression in writing quality. However, I couldn't warm to the characters and did end up skipping quite a bit at the end as it was a lot of pages of meaningless conversation. I certainly wouldn't read it again
