I'm not a big fan of musicals, so I went in with zero expectations. I was not expecting to be disappointed when I started with no expectations, but Wicked achieved that improbable feat. I realize I'm not the target audience. I have heard of Ariana Grande, but I don't listen to her music. Knowing her fame, I was shocked at how bad she was in this movie. Can't sing. Can't dance. Can't act. Brutal from start to finish. Clearly putting her in this movie was for ticket sales only. She's just a mess. We didn't need almost 3 hours to learn that people discriminate against and bully people who are different. But we got almost three hours of that. What the movie is really good at is beating us down with cliches so overdone it became laughable. Ditzy blonde. Ditzy hunk. Required gay guy interested in fashion. Rescued disabled woman. The depth of all characters combined wasn't as deep as the green makeup on the lead character. Anyway they can cancel Part II?
