When I say that Whisper of the heart is my favorite animation, I’m not claiming it’s the best animation ever made. But there’s something about it that makes me choose it over any other animation I’ve ever watched. People often like Howl’s Moving Castle because it’s an exceptional animation but there’s something so beautiful about whisper of the heart that I’ve never been able to verbally articulate. Whenever I utter its name, it just warms my heart and I know deep inside that I love it more than any other animation I’ve ever watched that I ever watch or will ever watch. At the beginning of it we hear the song Country Roads Take Me Home.(take me home, take me to where I belong) I always liked the song and the way it was used in the introduction but I never quite grasped why it was so important to the story. Now I do It captures the essence of the entire film. We don’t get to choose the family or the house we’re born into, but life gives us the opportunity to build a home.....one that transcends physical space A home isn't just a place; it’s a feeling. It’s the abstract notion of belonging. You can belong to a person. You can belong to something you love deeply. and that kind of home is spiritual, emotional shizuku finds that home in her writing. She finds it in the person who inspires her to grow into the version of herself she’s been struggling to become. That’s why the ending returns to the beginning country roads, take me home, to the place where I belong....it completes the circle ✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨
