It took a little prodding by my spouse to make me start watching Tales From the Loop. But it did not take much effort after that as I was mesmerized from the first minute. To quote a critic, it's so pretty, it breaks your heart.
It reminded me a little of Ruskin Bond, AboutTime and a lot of Miyazaki. It's serene even when horrifying things happen, it is calm in a way only sparse populated western countrysides seem to be.
Even if its supposed to be science fiction, it does not try to shove ever more fantastical theories down the throats. It soft builds a retro futuristic world, which looks so very hopeful from today.
But mostly it's the exploration of age old questions and themes which have been haunting the humanity.
The music tugs at the heart. Soft, calm, sad, heart filling. I've made it my current 'go to sleep' music.
It's small. Just eight episodes. It's absolutely beautiful. Watch it.
