While my son has been an avid Scalzi fan for years, this was my first personal experience with one of the author's works. I knew his writing must have been impressive, as my son has never been a reading for pleasure enthusiast, yet enthusiastically awaited each John Scalzi book he could obtain. I now fully understand why. This book was engaging, witty, exciting, and hilarious. The plot was quite intricate in places, followed by outright whimsy. Amazingly entertaining while not skimping on the storyline. I'm definitely a new fan. Here's hoping this will turn into a new series by Mr. Scalzi. The characters within and potential future plots would be ill served if this were a one-off story.
