It is hard to tell who is the intended audience for this movie. It came across as a cruel, hateful, unfunny men bashing charade. Funny erases cruel and hateful and delivers the message to all audiences. But if you cannot be funny, then you come across as just cruel and hateful. They could've use someone like Jerry Seinfeld to help with the script. The movie tried to deliver a serious message but touches in many very superficially. The relationship between the toy and the girl (or woman) playing the toy is so one dimensional (the writers should have seen toy story to learn a thing or two). The binary (or unidimensional) view of the world is annoying. Barbieland is 100% controlled by women and men are completely dumb. The real world is 100% controlled by men who are also very dumb, but somehow managed to be on top. The relationships between a man and a woman are strictly utilitarian. No romance, no family, each gender lives independently of the other. The story line is buried by the constant messaging to the point that the story line is lost. I do not know anybody who I would recommend this movie.
