Really underwhelming, honestly. I came in ready to go and just... it feels very contrived and ponderous. He's done an incredible job building an impressively deep universe with multiple fascinating and important details to be revealed and he instead spends how many pages talking about PTSD and DID? Flawed heroes are great but maybe a thousand pages on mental illness is too much given the series' ostensible genre?
I hope he takes some more time writing the next book. Sanderson's breakneck pace is great until the stories begin to suffer as this one did. Don't go full GRRM on us but I'd rather wait a little longer and get a cohesive story than be flooded with mediocrity.
