I was not impressed with the game.I like Star Wars and really wanted to like this game. I have been in it for 6-8 hours and it feels like a glorified platform game. You are guided down a predetermined path on in each area, sure there is some freedom in choosing which path to take but it still feels very restrictive (maybe I am spoiled on open world games). So far most of this platforming is very polished and enjoyable, other areas call for spot on precision and will have you wanting to throw the controler at the screen, and some its a challenge to even find the path where you can advance the game.
The combat is horrible and would be laughable if it wasn't so frustrating. there seems no stealth element at all and so far no ranged weapons other than deflecting blaster fire. Small creatures on each world take multi hits to kill while an armored stormtrooper goes down with one or two strikes, a lightly armored stormtrooper though take multiple hits to go down. You take multiple blaster shots and receive minor damage but deflect one shot back to a stormtrooper and hes down.
When respawning at a save point, the load time is incredibly long. they could have put a "tips and tricks" info bar on the this load screen which would have helped with the wait but no its on a screen where it asks you if you want to respawn. totally useless.
Finding objectives and interactive items is a hidden object search in a 3d world and again quite frustrating. Large items are highlighted quite well, but finding smaller items is more of wandering around and hope you stumble across it.
Loot boxes so far do not contain any useful loot but rather parts to customize your light saber or new skins for the characters. it doesn't seem these new parts modify anything in the gameplay other than appearance.
The story itself is entertaining and immersive, but so far thaats the most enjoyable thing about the game. It has been quite a disappointment given the hype surrounding it.
