A command performance by Sir Gregory Peck. Still holds up as as classic horror/thriller even in 2025. I hadn't seen it in 45 years, but I'm glad to have revisited it. While there are holes in the overall plot, the acting, music score and jump scares make up for it.

I saw this movie upon release 42 years ago in the theater. I can remember being extremely underwhelmed and disappointed. Watching it for the second time in 2025, I can honestly say that I enjoyed it. It has all the elements that other fantasy movies of the 80's have. The musical score is amazing, the acting is above average and the story is entertaining. The overall tone of the film is positive as well and not dark by any means. I will seek out a physical copy and watch it from time to time. Give it a try. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised!

A decent ride with some jump scares and nostalgic stop motion animation. In the same vain as Goosebumps.

Yet another film that suffers from lack of character development. Kurt Russell can't salvage this dumpster fire. It's a hard pass.

Not horrible, but definitely could have been so much better with a few tweaks. Virtually no development of the relationship between Cruise and the leading lady. As a result, the pain of loss is hard to buy into. Also, she is a major miscasting for this film. Think Temple of Doom and you'll understand what I mean. Seemingly a waste of Russell Crowe's talents as well. All that being said, it is moderately watchable with some good action sequences and Tom doing what Tom does best. Finally, it is a mildly different take on a well-used theme.
