The treatment of the Magisterium is too melodramatic and Mrs Coulter lacks subtlety. The visuals are excellent but I find I am fast forwarding through the Magisterium and Mrs Coulter scenes because they are rubbish.
Lyra and Will are well played. Those scenes are excellent.
