A Disrespectful and Inaccurate Portrayal of Basic Training
Boots completely misses the mark when it comes to accurately portraying Military Basic Training. The show allows recruits to behave in ways that would never be tolerated. Drinking, breaking rules, and talking casually with drill instructors. In real Basic Training, this kind of conduct would lead to immediate discipline or removal.
While creative freedom is one thing, this show crosses the line by using the Military setting to push personal and social themes that donโt belong there. Basic Training is about discipline, respect, and teamwork. Not about promoting personal identity or relationships.
This approach disrespects the reality of Military service and those who have gone through it. If the creators wanted to tell a story about self-discovery, they couldโve done it without distorting the values and structure of the armed forces.
Rating: 1/5 for inaccuracy, though the acting and production quality were solid.
