Talk about three steps back. In their effort to make things fresh and new, they gutted what made the franchise great. New attack mechanics that seem to do very little, you might end up ignoring them completely since you're never told WHAT they do, just how to do them. Units are now set up into one of three types, infantry, cavalry, and archers. Meaning you now always have disadvantage against some units, no matter what. And you better believe those types will swarm you every chance they get. Enemies are now damage sponges soaking up multiple combos as you try to take out a single one, while you get dropped in a single combo by them. You'll often find your own numbers bleeding rapidly within the first few seconds despite nothing happening, and taking bases becomes a chore when they get assigned a defender that can just wander off. But you still need to defeat that defender to take the base, even if they're halfway across the map. Unless I'm missing something, the whole experience feels like it's actively trying to be player hostile.
