The story moved very slow even after 100 pages. I wanted to get lost in the story but kept getting distracted by author's continuous interjections of his personal political opinions. Once or twice is enough. It seemed his objective to get his political opinions across was more important than to write a good story. Ironically his writing was analogous to his Russian characters' wrongdoing - Russians laundering dirty money and Author expressing his opinions as truths.
