This is a wonderful film. It’s intelligent, funny, and charming. If you want to watch a thoughtful film characterizing a young academic’s journey to love herself, love God and love her future husband, watch this film. I’m also reading the books of Carolyn Weber. They are even more wonderful than the film, which is wondrously made.

I thought this film was much too long, poorly acted in some cases, and just a soap opera of utter nonsense that kept losing the plot, and with it, me the viewer. I can't believe Cillian Murphy's beautiful performance and moving film Small Things Like These was overlooked for this absolute garbage. We've also seen Brody in this role before; it wasn't a stretch for him as an actor. He's a good actor but this film was convoluted. I couldn't wait for it to end.

My mom experienced the Clydebank Blitz. They lost their home. Eight children were split up. I thought this movie was going to be about relationships. There were unexplored storylines. What happened to the boy’s father? What was the purpose of her singing? The film turned into Pinnochio with the London criminals then it was the Titanic. It couldn’t decide what it wanted to be when it grew up. It was 120 minutes long and about 50 minutes too long. I couldn’t wait until it ended.
