I knew going in what type of movie this was going to be from the trailer and some reviews but was still surprised how things played out on the big screen. This is a very dark and graphic take on the Superman origin story that has been told many times but not like this and I really appreciated that. There were some scenes I had to turn away from that were to graphic for me like the eyeball scene. The story is held together by a fantastic performance by Elizabeth Banks as the mother and the young man who plays the boy. I highly recommend this film if you're looking for something different from the superhero genre and give this film 4/5stars.
