I have to rate it 2 stars just because I can tell it's not a great Pokemon game, but it's still fun. I am enjoying the game so far, just about to do the Pokemon League, but I had to use the internet to tell me what I have to do in order for the story. This isn't really anything like a Pokemon game. The main bad guy team had a really weak motive, and as soon as you defeat the bosses for some reason the whole team decides to just disband and ditch their efforts??
The game is really confusing at first as it kind of just puts you in to this massive open-world without direction, so I had to use the internet to find out. The game uses the academy as a main part of their story, yet the classes that you take don't really do anything apart from tell you things you already know. I feel like they could have utilised the academy better.
Another part of the game that confuses people, but luckily I have experience with Pokemon and open-world games so I personally wasn't confused, but you can catch Pokemon that are way higher levels than your starter, and they won't listen to you or fight for you if you don't have enough gym badges. I've seen some people just stuck because their whole team won't listen to them and they don't know what to do because they don't have experience in these types of games.
I also wish they utilised multiplayer in a better way, although I do like the link code feature but I just wish there was more to it. Like you can all play in the same world, but you can't really do anything with each other anyway.
The main issue I have with the game is that the story isn't good enough compared to almost every other Pokemon game. I can see how people that are newer to Pokemon may think it's a great game, but as somebody who has been playing all the Pokemon games for almost a couple decades now, it's not up to par with the rest of them.
