Read the book instead. Although the film footage of the races is good, it misses the most important point of this amazing story. Namely, Joe’s determination to achieve despite being thrown out of his father’s home at a young age by a step mother, having to live on mushrooms he found in the forest, and his determination to get an education. There are a few lines of dialogue referring to this, but it’s trivialized. Shame on this film team for taking an amazing, inspirational story and going for the action, while missing the truly inspiring core of this man’s accomplishment against all odds.
