1 episode in and I'm undecided. I'm a HUGE fan of the original and I think the various nods to it are amazing and I love the way they've reinterpreted them. Kurt and Ram and the copy of stud puppy in the shopping bag was a brilliantly funny nod to the original and a great twist.
Now the things I'm not that crazy about. I feel uncomfortable that the "villains" /Heathers that run the school are "minorities" and being culturally sensitive is used as a negative. I think the core of the original was a revolution against those that typically had all the power at school, quarterback, cheerleaders, etc..maybe that's changed? But I doubt it. I can see how the writer/s were trying to flip that concept but so far it's not working for me.
Conclusion: definitely worth proceeding as the tempo and nostalgia are great. The cast appears to be great and I've laughed out loud a couple of times...the opening scene with Shannen Doherty was...very! The lead actress is giving me Winona Ryder as Veronica but not.. she's brilliant.
