Absolutely haunting. Not every movie has to show violence to be disturbing. The one star reviewers here call it 'boring'. That's the point! This was not sensationalism. This was everyday life for a Nazi commandant. This was attempted beauty and extreme ugliness separated by just a stone wall. This was the sound of children being ripped away from their parents forever on one side while children splashed in a pool on the other. This was flowers and vegetables growing under a sky full of human ash.
At numerous points the 'wall' broke down and invaded the fishing river, invaded the garden, invaded the merriment inside the house. This film indirectly asks "how thin is the wall we all have that divides one extreme from the other?" There is nothing boring about that.
