Honestly? This is really insulting to the audience. A good number of folks watch ghost hunting / paranormal research shows for the same reason one might go to a haunted house put on by local college students around Halloween: It's obviously fake, but nobody's pretending it's real, and it's all good fun. Then there are shows where everyone involved truly believes what they're doing, and those are a good watch for the earnest fear and intensity of it (see the "Psychic Kids" reboot from 2019). This, on the other hand, was made by people who know the show they're staging is BS but think their audience won't realize it, but it's not done well enough to execute the grift. I've never cringed so much at anything in the entire genre. The Warrens were at least talented, hard-working showmen; this is just low-effort money-grubbing while leaning on the Warrens' reputation.
