As a certified member of Generation Z, I feel obligated to post this.
THIS SHOW MAY BE TOO REAL OR EVEN FEEL SURREAL FOR SOME VIEWERS
From the constant talk about sex and nudes to all the vape and thc pens seen throughout the episode, It felt like I was watching REAL teenagers that I could probably share a class with. My main thought throughout the entire episode was "Yep, this is pretty accurate." Even when listening to the dialogue, I was thinking "This is how actual teenagers talk." The show provides a good glimpse into the real life issues that some (not all) Gen Zers face in this day and age due in large part to the media and internet and the big role it played in our upbringing(an idea briefly touched upon in this episode with porn, nudes, and how it may of affected our view on what sex is suppossed to be).
It doesn't suprise me that some adults don't like the show either because the topics may be too heavy for them to think about regarding what they consider "children" or they're under the misconception that real teenagers don't have to deal with these type problems because they themselves didn't have to at our age. Therefore, it would come off as another cliche filled teen drama.
The only cliche I found in the show was the Jock character. TV has never really displayed bullies accurately. They're always over-the-top. In reality, bullies are just stuck up/ immature people that never got spanked. They're more annoying then they are dangerous. The real reasons you don't see people stand up to bullies is because:
1. The bully's more popular and the person being bullied believes that by standing up, their social status will drop as a result because more people will side with the bully.
2. The person being bullied doesn't know how to use their words to defend themselves aka flame
I digress. The shows pretty good. Watch it. And if you read all this, Thanks. I appreciate it. Take care.
