Joaquin Phoenix deserves an oscar for this role. He IS the Joker. No one will ever be able to top this performance! Heath Ledger held the title, but, Joaquin just took it to several higher levels.
It was dark, psychological, emotional, and I found myself sympathetic to his journey. 5 stars for sure!
PS it is violent and wouldn't recommend to younger people. IT IS NOT THE USUAL COMIC BOOK VILLAIN MOVIE. Use parental discretion.
