Absolute masterpiece. I watch movies often; I try to watch at least two to four new movies a month on top of rewatching my favorites when nothing new seems interesting. So out of the hundreds of movies I have watched in my lifetime, it's only a few of them that are worth watching more than two or three times. Let's be honest, more than half of the movies that come out every year are absolute garbage that have the same types of characters, plots, and settings. Everyone throws their money at these "films" that literally tell the same stories over and over again, or push political ideologies, or shamelessly cash grab from parents and/or a dedicated fan base that will see a film simply because they are loyal.
This film, this amazing, beautiful, thrilling, and overall striking masterpiece shakes the masses from their comfortable complacency. Acting is phenomenal; when your characters don't say a word but you still feel the tension, chemistry and just raw emotion emanating off of the screen. That's power.
It's moving to those of us that don't need plot, emotion, or anything spoon fed to enjoy a movie. Visually and musically this film is stunning and a real treat for the senses.
I hope if you haven't watched it at the time of reading this then get on it! Watch it when you have nothing else going on and let yourself be immersed in the power and beauty that Refn has gifted to the world. And don't hesitate to watch his other films if you haven't seen any yet. Drive isn't the only Refn film to make it into my favorites, and I'm sure it won't be the only on in yours either!
