Very mixed feelings about this film. Very much enjoyed watching it when I was younger - particularly enjoyed the cinematography and the fact that the film asks you to step into another world that is not all about instant gratification and requires some level of concentration (not one to watch while you are also on your phone).
That being said, it always makes me uncomfortable the way this story has been romanticised given the colonial aspects and the fact that Pocahontas was just 10 when she first met the settlers and the adult John Smith. Added to this the fact that the actress playing her was only 15 when they shot this film while Colin Farrell was 29 and Christian Bale 31 makes it hard to watch with that information and now that I am old enough to really appreciate the creepiness of this...
