I read the book and loved it. Written in 1949 before all this apocalypse stuff, it was truely amazing and realistic. This TV Series misses everything that the book offered. I was so looking forward to this TV show, but was so bitterly disappointed. All the good stuff of survival and character development, interactions and growth, all gone. The book tells of letting the kids out to discover the world and find grains for their future.. all gone! Character development completely gone!! Real life situations gone!!! A quick grab on a topical TV pandemic phase with no real substance and missing the real story of the original book. So sad and disappointed. Maybe someone will try again and stop with the melodrama and just tell the story that the book told. There’s plenty there to make it different and exciting, great and memorable and real. I love TV and it’s ability to spend the time and money to make it real. (sad face) Forget the TV show, read the book please. Let’s hope for a better interpretation of the future in the future.
