A lot of people obviously don't get this movie. I probably not their fault because it's marketed as a horror movie. But then again, they are still giving the movie one star for something they clearly do not comprehend. Anyway, it's not a horror movie. It's a character study about an educated woman with few means in a difficult situation. It's deliberately paced, some might be slow but I found it very engaging. It's a sad story, but the acting, writing and direction are excellent. It deals with issues of class, race, and the immigrant experience in a loving, gentle way that will leave you feeling empathy for the main character and it might just tell you a little something about your own heart.
