The film has its moments but the ending was so pat and dismissive of the real challenges of depression.
“Feel good” movies like this do real harm to people who struggle with depression or self-harm, by setting people’s expectations too high. According to this film, a rousing speech will get you to try harder and voila, depression solved, all you need is love.
