I take this interpretation of Nosferatu and the Vampire genre to be one of the best told; but I am not sure the robust storyline was delivered with the effect it could have had.
The cinematography can not be flawed, it is certainly the highlight of the film and delivered with a majestic touch. I didn't feel like I was invested in any particular character and their characters were somewhat, unknowable so it is hard to feel for characters you don't feel a connection with.
If I had been given the storyline and the film footage, I might have dropped the opening few minutes into the film about a third into the film as an explanation of Nosferatu's existence. I also might have had a few other things done differently.
It is an old fable of horror genre that the victims all must have transgressed somewhat to deserve the punishment of the horror that unfolds, and I did not see anything that opens the door to this for the main characters.
The film is a win, but I do not see a home run here.
