I expected a trashy/funny horror film and while I was satisfied in this sense, what I didn't expect was how the film seems to share some tonal elements from Home Alone. A large part of the film entails the main character, a young male child, devising dangerous booby traps to catch his attackers. The difference from Home Alone is the traps and the results of them are far more severe. But the combination of Home Alone with gore-porn horror works great!

Full of cheap jump scares along with bad acting from the main character. I enjoyed Raimi's work on the Evil dead and Spiderman, but I just found this one irritating and dissapointing.

There are moment of the film that perfectly encapsulates the throws of family turmoil, as well as the severity of society's racial inequality. Unfortunately, these scenes aren't the lasting thoughts that you will take away from the film, of which is filled with cringe moments, a mediocre performance in the protagonist, and awkward musical scenes. Perhaps you need to be a strong Springsteen enthusiast to enjoy this one?
