You don't see many westerns made these days and Kevin Costner deserves credit for putting his money where his mouth is and providing us the public with this gorgeous spectacle. Is it a winner, well that depends on your expectations. The acting is good, the vistas magical, the story line possibly predictable but after all it's about the Wild West and we have had so much of that in the past it's almost impossible to create something new, worthy and fresh. My main criticism is to do with it's length. Three hours is a tad too long, viewers get restless after two despite the engaging though slow plot. Still, it's certainly worth seeing.
