These copy paste one star reviews are written by "libertarians" made out of cardboard. Old babies can't see a gay person without thinking they've been tricked into consuming agitprop.
Here's a copy paste of somebody else's TLDR:
amazingly fun to play game with strong female leads ruined by a faulty insufferable patriarchal premise that is pointlessly bleak: two women fighting to the death over their mutually murdered father figures.
There are a dozen reasons not to play this game, but almost none of them were mentioned. Also YES!! Joel is an intelligent guy who fought his way across the country for somebody he came to love. Since the beginning of the first game we've seen Joel exit his survival stage and reconvene around what clearly meant the most to him: family. This is not at all a sign of weakness. His death was clearly devastating and obviously a lot of these men cannot come to terms with their own mortality. Shoutout whoever wrote that review transvestigating Abby, whose b naturals are shown in game. ANYWAY
The AI is still dumb
The combat has only lightly improved
The pacing is incredibly poor, almost draining
I was so exhausted by the end of the story that whatever emotional impact it was intended to have was almost entirely lost on me.
HOWEVER
You spend half of the game playing as Ellie and I'd venture to say the other HALF of the game as Abby. There are moments during their fight where you're spamming X to escape a grapple, and you can't entirely tell who you're supposed to be playing as. This series has a very interesting way of making you look at what it means to take a life, and it makes me sad that a solid mass of the players just want a sick apocalypse game where a gruff dude has a secret soft spot. The story isn't about Joel's weakness or Ellie's depravity. The story is about the pieces of ourselves that we lose in the process of taking revenge. Whether you're trying to bite back at another man, some lesbians, the soldier who took your daughter, or the life you were born into, lashing out will destroy you and the people who love you, as well as innocent people who get caught in the crossfire. Best case scenario you live a mid action game or drama movie for a couple of days before you get got and it comes down on your head. If you liked the first game because of its unique perspective on humans and what exactly makes a video game. If you liked the first game because the slim bearded texan is a reserved badass who just does what he needs to do for the people he loves: You should go back, play the first game, and put yourself in the childs shoes instead of the adult. We're writing and reading reviews on google, let's be real about who the self insert is. 3 stars wouldn't recommend to normies
