I’ve never read the erotica genre so I have nothing to which to compare Forever A Philanderer, but I was intrigued by the premise of this, Cagney Nowak’s first novel: infidelity set against a backdrop of time travel. Throw in a chance meeting with the Messiah and an abusive marriage, and you have the makings of an intriguing story.
Are the sex scenes hot? Undoubtedly. Cagney switches perspectives between Dain Galdikas and Britney Crogan seamlessly, showing the reader how each sex experiences the sex act.
But Forever A Philanderer is really a morality tale: is revenge sex the proper response to learning of your spouse’s duplicity? It also shows how an obsession can turn to addiction, which in turn can make us commit acts we wouldn’t normally commit.
A fine first novel; recommended.
