Firstly I would like to say I am a Christian man, but that doesnโt matter right now. This is an amazing adaptation of what happened in the 1980s when the pandemic of HIV/AIDS came out. I saw what was going on when I was 12 years old (especially through that commercial released in the 80s).
The actors, especially Gill and Roscoe, were ABSOLUTELY amazing. I couldnโt stop crying (and laughing) when seeing each episode. In the 1990s, when I was confused and happy; I was often sitting in the corner of a gay pub looking at the scene, trying to understand peopleโs behaviour.
I have seen the ignorance, and fortunately I have studied science to explain to lay people what this illness really is. I have learnt so much about myself seeing this series. I also have a gay brother who I adore, he is blessed and beautiful and I have nothing but admiration for him. The actors portray a wonder warmth and care for each other. Itโs a community of love and eternal hope. Yes, in the BIBLE they say the โact is a sinโ, hence an appropriate title. However, the message needs to show warmth to those who have the illness. I would watch the programme endlessly because Gillโs portrayal of a caring person is simply brilliant. I love the episode when the mum asked to Keeleyโs Hawkes character โwhy didnโt you know your son was gay, itโs clearly obviousโ.
This is an amazing message to all of us. We now live in times of hostility and uncertainty. Yet this is a brilliant series of beautiful people that love each other. You wonโt hear vexatious words from my mouth. God is about support and love. Itโs that simple. โค๏ธ๐๐ฝ x Jason
